The stinger.
We use 28 to 36 inches of Premium 150# mono. The hooks range from 6/0 to 8/0. We only use Mustad 7691 Stainless Steel. The squid are rigged in the same way as discussed above. You position the hook so that the bend is just beyond the skirt. Some like to hide it, others like to let it hang way back. We find this to be good middle ground and it has worked well for us. Notice, another big snap, and a few more Offshore Loop Knots.
Reel Draggin Tackle™ Spreader bars and Daisy Chains have stingers that can be removed and replaced at any time. We do this with an Offshore Loop knot in the last squid. The RDT stinger system makes it easy to switch out hook baits. We sometimes run a bar or chain with 6" bait and stick a 12" slammer back there as a stinger. Sometimes, a purple/black squid bar with a Purple/Black 12" slammer out fishes everything in the water. Its good to have options and the RDT Stinger System is a quick and efficient way to swap out and switch your game plan when needed.

The Hook
Big game anglers are demanding. They spend many days each year in some of the most challenging environments in the world in pursuit of the largest fish that inhabit our oceans. These fish demand the use of the best equipment as there is no margin for error. Hours of preparation are required so that when that magic moment comes, and the words "hook up" are heard over the sound of a screaming drag and the roar of the engine you are confident that you're prepared for the battle ahead. Mustad Big Game hooks have a reputation among the world's big game anglers of being sharp, strong, and reliable. It is this reputation that has enabled Mustad to be the best selling big game hook in the world for more than a century. Mustad holds more world records and sports more championships than the competition combined, and has traditionally been setting standards in this demanding category of hooks. We use 7691s 6/0 through 8/0 Mustad hooks on all rigs.
