Reel Draggin’ Tackle™
"Signature Series" Spreader Bar Design The Center Block |
|
![]() |
The centerpiece of the bar is our custom design, configured so that you fight the fish not the bar. It is cut from high density Poly and drilled in two directions. One direction for the bar to slide through and one for the leader line passage. The Ploy Block is drilled so that the bar and leader line never touch inside the block. Our design is better than a swivel crimped to the center of the bar, followed by crimping your main line and spreader bar center line in one of the ways you see at your local tackle shops. With the high quality light line we use (to generate more strikes) its important to eliminate as many potential failure points as possible. Our center Poly Block is free-spinning, allowing for more bar motion and flexibility. The center line goes directly through the center piece, so the angler fights the fish not the bar. This is a dramatic improvement over other rigging techniques available at your local tackle shops or retail centers. Reel Draggin' Tackle has incorporated a 200# hand line, 30 inches long forward of the bar. The line slides freely through the center block. When boating your fish, the leader man has a robust piece of mono to grab safely. Since the bar floats on this leader, it does not add to the total length of the spreader bar. Our center line is cut at 52 inches, with an offshore loop knot at the end to attach or remove your stinger of choice. This keeps the rig about a rod length long, allowing the angler to reel the rig to the tip of the rod, step to the center of the boat, and with the rod tip raised the fish will be well within the range of your gaff. |

You are going to need something for the center of the bar. This is the conection point between the business end of the bar, and your main line to the rod/reel. You have lots of options here. This is a good look at the poly block we currently use. We'll discuss this more in the next few posts.
