22 June 2007 Reel Draggin’ Tackle Fishing Team Report – June 22, 2007 Note: “My Desire” is a hands-on boat. The Captain provides any assistance the crew desires or will leave the mate work to the fishing crew. The RDT Team handled much of the rigging and spread deployment; Captain Bill also provided his expert knowledge. Crew: Bob Sutton, Joe Weschler, Pat O’Malley, Don Noyes, Mike Bee and Dalton Jones. Details: Left the O.C. dock at 5:20am headed for the Rock Pile. Began setting the spread consisting of rainbow draggin and green draggin colors about 7:30. Water temps were 73.5° upon arrival. Worked the area looking for temperature breaks. Fishing was slow all day. Radio chatter confirmed that the fishing pattern from previous days was changing rapidly and most boats were finding slim pickins’. Some Captains reported water temps from 65.5° to 73.5°. The coolest temp found by “My Desire” was 69.3°. During the day we worked our way toward Poor Mans, and ended the day with 3 Yellowfins (40#, 35#, 17#) and one Mahi (around 15#). The first fish was on an RDT Green Draggin Slammer bar, the largest Yellow Fin tuna. The second was on the RDT hawaiian eye and the cedar plug that was wraped 15 times around the main line, the fish was lost because we could not keep the line tight while unwrapping the line. The next one was on a rainbow squid spreader bar with and yellow birds on the tips. A green draggin chain with a green bird in front took a dolphin 15 lbs. The next bite off was on the RDT hawaiian with hoo and bit right behind the hook. Then the next two hit at the same time on a small RDT green draggin and a rainbow squid spreader bar, and they were both yf Tuna 20 and a 12 lbs. All in all a great day considering the slow conditions that most boats were dealing with. We would like to thank Captain Bill for a great day and sharing his awesome boat and his experience with the RDT fishing team. For anyone that likes to be hands-on when fishing, we highly recommend booking “My Desire” for your next trip out of Sunset Marina, Ocean City, Maryland. Tight Lines.
