15 June 2007 Reel Draggin' Tackle was aboard JJ's Rock, out of Sunset Marina Ocean City MD. On board were Anglers, Mark Beales, John Palmer, Jerry Behnken and Gary Prichet. I was in the cockpit with Scott, and up on the Bridge was Capt Rick Huckleby and Capt Joe Riley. We left the dock a little late (6am) due to the 7 to 9 foot forecast. Making a Captains call, Rick decided to go for it. There was a warm water thread IVO the Baltimore Canyon that we wanted to look for after we checked in at the Ham Bone for a quick look for BFT. It was a bumpy ride out, but got better as the day went on. We started trolling on the south end of the Ham Bone to see if we could get an early BFT before heading for the deep. The water was 58 to 59 degrees and green. It never got any warmer, or better looking and we never got a pull so we headed on out to the Baltimore Canyon. Around 11 am we got a radio call that helped us find the water, a little to the south in 100 fathoms. It was only about three miles wide and every pass through we had 3 or 4 lines go off. We ended the day going 5 for 8 on Yellow Fin with the largest weighing in at 47#. On our last pass through we iced a 100# Blue Fin. |
