Salt-Away is a water-based, non-hazardous, biodegradable solution and contains properties that dissolve, release and remove salt crystals from any surface. Water alone will not remove salt. Use of Salt-Away will not correct past damage but will work to protect against salt corrosion and reduces costly repairs caused by salt. Salt-Away breaks down and removes salt build-up with repeated use.

Salt-Away can safely be used on all metals, fiberglass, paint, rubber, plastic, chrome, glass, concrete, brick or any surface exposed to salt. Salt-Away, mixed with water, washes away the salt then leaves a protective film on surfaces until surfaces are again exposed to water or salt. Engine flushing information

Fishing boats are easy to keep clean by using Salt-Away. Hose down with Salt-Away at the end of the day. Salt-Away removes salt, fish blood and other fish parts. It is easy to flush your engine and hose down the deck to remove the salt.

Remember to use Salt-Away on your bait tank pump. Replacing bait tank pumps will be a thing of the past.

Salt-Away is the most concentrated of all salt removing products and therefore the least expensive to use.

Salt-Away will not remove wax.

For exterior washing, during the application by pressure methods, there are 2 conditions necessary for Salt-Away to remove salt. 1) The pressure of the water source must be consistent and great enough to cause runoff, (recommendation: minimum 30 psi) and 2) complete and thorough runoff of the solution to the exit eas of the surface must occur. Except for salt build-up areas, results are immediate. If these conditions do not exist, the Salt-Away solution will dissolve the salt, but it remains on the surface.
Recommended Dilution Ratios
• 1 oz concentrate / 4 gallons water or 1:512 for pressure applications (water hose, pressure washer, or other non-bottle spray applications). Recommended for exterior salt removal for General Maintenance Applications. Also appropriate for marine salt water engine flush applications.
• 2 oz concentrate / 4 gallons water or 1:256 for tougher exterior salt removal problems.
• 3 oz concentrate / 4 gallons water or 1:192 to correct older problems. Apply with pressure. Allow to rest up to 24 hours. Rinse with fresh water to bring off broken-down salt deposits in Salt-Away solution. Repeat procedure to continue breaking down salt deposits until completely removed. Maintain equipment with frequent general maintenance dilution applications.
• 2-4 oz concentrate / 1 gallon water or 1:64-32 for compression pump dispensing or small parts immersion purposes.
• 1-2 oz concentrate / 5 gallons water for salt water marine engine lower unit immersion purposes.
• 2 oz Salt-Away per 1 gallon of anti-freeze solution for winterizing with anti-freeze
• For use with pressure washers: Attach Salt-Away Mixing Unit between water source attachment or spigot and pressure washer water inlet attachment. Salt-Away Mixing Unit dispenses Salt-Away at ratio for General Maintenance Applications (1:512).

These recommended ratios are the maximum dilution. Using lesser amounts of Salt-Away are not recommended. Damage will not occur if greater amounts of Salt-Away are used in the dilution. The ratios recommended above are for economical consideration.

At 512 parts water to 1 part Salt-Away, 20 gallons of mixture covers approximately 1315 square feet. Using the Salt-Away Mixing Unit attached to a garden hose dispenses Salt-Away at the ratio of 1:512. The average square feet coverage for one 4 ounce application is 1050 sf. Each application is affected by water pressure and time spent per square foot.

If desired, for exterior washing of larger boats (over 40 feet) a commercial Hose End Garden Sprayer may be used. To attain the same dilution ratio, purchase a garden sprayer designed to dial dilution ratios by tablespoons and teaspoons. Set the ratio to 3 teaspoons per gallon of water. For very large area applications, these units are preferred since the reservoirs are 4-8 times larger than the Salt-Away
Mixing Unit’s reservoir. These units cannot be attached in-line for engine flushing or pressure washer use due to the built-in sprayer nozzle.

For all Salt-Away applications, scrubbing or rinsing are optional. For optimum results, diluting Salt-Away is recommended.
